Produce

Co-op members are mainly organic livestock farmers. We sell:
  • Organic Beef
  • Organic Lamb
  • Organic Chicken
  • Organic Turkeys
An organically certified (Organic Trust) abattoir has been operating in Bawnboy, Co. Cavan since June 2005. Fresh meat is available every week through the Co-op's new mobile meat unit at farmers' markets, some organic shops, and direct sales.

The Co-op pays particular attention to the hanging of meat to ensure it is tender and full flavoured, so fresh beef and lamb should be ordered 2 weeks in advance.

The meat can be butchered to meet your requirements. There are freezer facilities at King House in Boyle, and freezer packs are always available. Co-op members get a 10% discount on our prices.

  • Beef
    • 7 kg box containing a selection of cuts: rib-roast, sirloin/striploin steak, rib steak, diced stewing beef, and mince, at a cost of €80.
    • Individual cuts, depending on availability
  • Lamb
    • Available fully butchered, to include, Legs, Gigot Chops, Loin, Chops and Stewing Meat.
    • Whole lamb €160
    • Half lamb €85
    • Individual cuts, depending on availability
  • Chicken
    • Full flavoured chickens from West Cork, 3-5 kg in weight at a cost of around €14 each
  • Other Produce
    • Some members specialise in other areas of production. At present most of their produce is available direct from the farm gate, at farmers' markets, or through local box schemes. Many members have now availed of training through the Western Organic Network to enhance their current operation, or diversify into new areas, as new market opportunities develop.
    • Other Produce includes:
      • organic pig - pork, ham, bacon, salami (Strokestown, Co. Roscommon)
      • organic eggs
      • organic venison
      • organic vegetables and fruit
      • organic herbs, including medicinal herbs
      • honey
      • organic cheese
      • bread, cakes, jam and preserves
